Fundraising - Supporting a Cause

Through the efforts of the brothers in the Fundraising Committee, our chapter is able to pursue initiatives that will ultimately lead to further development of our chapter, give us the resources to support our main philanthropic causes, and provide us with funds to manage internal affairs. The various initiatives our chapter is currently undertaking include the establishment of the Phi Delta Chi – Alpha Chapter Scholarship, along with our main philanthropic cause: raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is a treatment and research facility that focuses on fatal diseases in children, typically pediatric cancer. However, we participate in fundraisers for other charitable causes as well. For example, we designed then sold pink “Michigan Pharmacy” shirts in October, 2014 to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. As for internal affairs, the money we fundraise helps to fund food at formal meetings and various events such as the New Brother Dinner for newly initiated pledge classes and the P4 Farewell Dinner for our graduating P4 brothers.

The Fundraising Committee puts on a variety of events throughout the year, such as Date Auction, the Mr./Ms. CoP Pageant, various apparel sales, and restaurant nights in order to fundraise for our various causes. We are always trying to come up with more creative and innovative ways to fundraise money. For example, a group of brothers and pledges spent a weekend at Cedar Point working a food booth this semester. Ultimately, our brothers work to fundraise in order to generate resources that will better our chapter, while simultaneously giving back to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and the community.
